Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche in a library

Library

Our Reference Library is called the Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Library. Our libraries have received a bequest of around 1,000 books, booklets and texts on Buddhist teachings, and Asian culture. A number of these works are available at Aro Ling, and we have started to expand this base to include books on other major world religions, physical yogas, and martial arts, for access by the general public. Also within the library is a perpetual web-link to the Aro Encyclopaedia site – the world’s largest web-resource on non-monastic Buddhist Vajrayana. Whether a casual reader, Buddhist practitioner or academic, the material is available in friendly surroundings for relaxed browsing or close study. During our normal opening hours anyone is welcome to drop by to use this facility, whilst having a cuppa in the comfort of our lounge.

Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin means ‘possession of undying unborn knowingness’ – a condition prompted by the acquisition of shérab (or prajna, in Sanskrit) and which is encouraged by study and practice. The late Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche was one of the patrons of the charity which supports Aro Ling, and the library that bears his name is intended for the benefit of all.
